2nd Annual Emergency and Home Preparedness Expo

Free educational event for preparing for the upcoming hurricane season and for other emergencies. Open-house setting, with informative exhibits provided by many volunteers, including civic agencies, businesses, and members of the community, as well as a Northwest Florida Blood Services Blood Drive. A special focus on home preparedness included long-term food storage, with food storage and preparation exhibits.

Conducted food drive at several stores and within several neighborhoods. The food was provided to various local food banks. The food drive methods included a combination of manned booths at store entrances, unmanned donation stations, and neighborhood drives. Amounts collected:

Fort Walton Beach - 1500 lbs.

Food Drive Throughout Okaloosa and Walton Counties, FL

Activity/responsibility:
Conceived to be executed throughout the Stake, with the Paxton Branch taking the overall lead, with each Ward and Branch organized to coordinate the effort within their Unit boundaries.
Potential Community Partners include community service agencies, other Churches, businesses, and individuals. This particular project has great potential for involving children and youth, with adult supervision. The ideal scenario would be to have enough participation that all food stores within Okaloosa and Walton Counties would be donation locations, with children/youth/adults greeting the store patrons as they entered and asking them to buy an extra can of food and drop it off on the way out of the store.
Beneficiaries include organizations providing food to the needy. The specific organizations will be determined during the project development.
