We had a successful Day of service event.  We sold pork sandwich dinners as a fund raiser for Haven Hospice.  We had 10 local bands come and play for the event.  They had a variety of musical genres from Classic Rock, Alternative Rock, Blue Grass, Country and Christian Rock.  Haven Hospice was present and sold drinks.  We were able to have donated radio spots on two stations, newspaper coverage over 3 days and in 2 separate papers.  We sold almost every pork dinner we had available and overall we raised $1,000 for a wonderful organization.

Our day of service consists of two parts. The first part was a BBQ fundraiser to collect funds to buy the materials needed for the project.  We sold over 200 plates to surrounding business and had great community support for the BBQ.  We were able to raise about $1000 dollars for the materials needed to complete the second part of the project.

The second part of the project is to have a work day at the Baseball/Softball Complex.  This day of service has been approved by the local Babe Ruth Council.  We expect this project to have great community support.  There are 167 kids in the local Babe Ruth league that their families are anticipating helping out improving the facilities

Haven Hospice Fund Raiser - Price Creek

Name of Organization:

Haven Hospice.  Located at Olustee Park. Partners—Rotary of Lake City and Lake City Chamber of Commerce

Location and Time:

April 24th at Olustee Park from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Activity/responsibility:

#1.  Lake City Fitness Challenge - individuals will get sponsors like in a walk-a-thon but not for the number of laps but just for participating.
Around the lake will be stations set up by local Gyms. Gyms donate and set up a station for participants to work out at before moving on to next station.  They can sign up memberships if they have opportunities to do so.  Sites should be unique and creative to represent their gym and fun for participants of all ages and shapes to do as they stop by.  A great chance for these gyms to show what they have.
Also around the lake and possibly at the park, service oriented station like Massage or rest or water break stations where participants can break for massage or stretching or health drinks.  Charge $1 per minute for any amount of time they need for service or drink.  Services donated by PROFESSIONALS and donate all proceeds to the cause.
This event should start at 8:00 and end at 10:00 AM.

#2.  Pork and Chicken dinners sold with proceeds going to the cause.  This should happen from 10:00 ish to 2:00 PM.  Clean up 2-3:00 PM.  Tentatively meat can be purchased or donated then cooked and served with sides at the park or we plan to create a drive-through in the south parking lot of the park.
Side Events - during the event we plan to have musical performances on the Gazebo.  We have already received confirmation for one group, another committed and about 4 individuals who will donate their talents during the event.  Those in the park can drop donations for the performances or just enjoy the music as they participate in the events at the park and around the lake.
Pre-sell - We plan to pre-sell tickets for the meals and get sponsors for the fitness challenge before the events as advertisement and as a way for those who will not be there to donate to the cause.  They can bring the tickets and pick up meals as well.
