Miami Lakes

On April 24, 2010, 120 volunteers partnered with the Neighborhood Enhancement Team and the City of Miami to beautify the Allapattah area as well as Comstock Elementary School.

On May 1, 2010, 130 volunteers from nine faith-based organizations partnered with businesses and the City of Miramar on a park beautification project at Shirley Branca Park.

A special thanks to our partners who linked arms with us and the helping hands of our volunteers.

We look forward to next year’s Day of Service and invite those in our South Florida communities to join us!

9 Churches in the City of Miramar partnered with businesses and the City of Miramar on a park beautification project at Shirley Branca Park.  Volunteers pulled weeds, planted flowers and plants, painted park fixtures, resodded a berm and spreaded mulch all through the park.

Neighborhood Enhancement Project in Miami

Volunteers partnered with the Neighborhood Enhancement Team for the second year in a row and pulled weeds, picked up trash, cleaned up graffiti and beautified and enhanced areas of Allapattah.  More than 200 bags of trash were collected by the City of Miami.

Flowers and plants were planted at Comstock Elementary School in Miami.  This was a beautification project that will benefit the school staff, students and neighborhood.

Enhancing the Allapattah Community in Miami

Volunteers will be weeding, raking, sweeping, picking up trash, cleaning graffiti, beautifying and enhancing the Allapattah Community.

Rakes, brooms, shovels and gloves.
Please wear work clothes and closed in shoes.

“Joining Hands in a Day of Faith & Service” Shirley Branca Park Beautification Project on May 1st

Hosted by the City of Miramar and partnering with city church congregations

Location:  Shirley Branca Park, 6900 Miramar Parkway

Time:  8 AM - 12 Noon

Activity/responsibility:

Volunteers will be weeding and mulching plant beds, planting new annuals, painting park fixtures and walls, and picking up litter and debris.

Tools or skills required:

Volunteers are encouraged to bring related tools such as shovels, garden rakes and gloves.

Ages:

12 + and family projects

Additional Notes:

Water will be provided on site.  Restrooms are accessible.  The City of Miramar will provide all paint equipment, paint, mulch, plant material (annuals), and trash bags.  City staff will be on site to help coordinate and supervise event.
