A day of services and resources for over 200 homeless families in Seminole County. shelter, employment, medical exams, children’s immunizations, medical testing, rent & electric assistance, food stamps, legal help, birth certificates, Florida ID’s and many other services were offered. Free haircuts, family pictures, kid’s crafts, face painting, child care, and lunch were all part of the day. A Scout completed his Eagle project by collecting 300 bags of food and distributing them to the families. Churches worked together collecting clothes that were sorted and organized. Our missionaries helped families through the event along with many other caring and helpful volunteers. Several hundred books were donated to be given to the children. This was a day to help “people who were poor as to the things of the world; and also they were poor in heart.” Our intent was to provide hope and help to many of our neighbors in need, giving members and non-members an opportunity to work together in the service of others. http://www.smugmug.com/gallery/11949830_Y4Ltb#846515031_ANrFR link to pictures online and itsaboutfamilies.blogspot.com is the link for our blog.
