Neighborhoods were canvassed with flyers and information about the food drive.  Food was collected and delivered to the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia and volunteers unloaded and sorted foodstuffs at the facility.  Our relationship with the organization was a continuation from last year.  Dave Williams wrote a thank you note:  “You collected 3215 pounds of food which will provide approximately 2500 meals, and your volunteer force was a wonderful addition!  Please be sure to thank everyone that participated on our behalf.  Thanks!”

Location and Time:

Week of April 17-23 collections will take place in various neighborhoods and businesses in the Athens area.  Final donation pickup will be April 24 from 9:00am until noon at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 706 Whitehead Road, Athens, GA 30606.  Unloading, sorting and stocking will take place at the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia, 861 Newton Bridge Road, Athens, GA 31701 from 9:00am until noon.

Activity/responsibility:

Flyers, bags, and barrels will be distributed in neighborhoods and businesses throughout the community in the weeks preceding the service date with collection and contact information.  Items needed are listed on the flyer.  Donations will also be picked up at 9:00am at the church building.
