The only numbers that I have at this time would be: We had around 80 people, representing 25 or so families from the Rivercreast Ward. We did landscaping for Johnson Elementary school planting over 70 plants, putting out 50 bails of pine straw. Totaling over 200 hours of service to the school.

The Flatrock Ward collected over 600 lbs. of canned food items from people in their neighborhoods, and raised over $340 which was donated to the director of Feeding the Valley, a food bank in Columbus, GA. The staff at the food bank expressed their gratitude for the service numerous times. Channel 10 Local News also had a short feature on the volunteers at the food bank on the 6 and 10 pm newscasts.

Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Columbus Georgia joined with volunteers from the Feeding The Valley Food Bank to partner with the U.S. Postal Service in their annual food drive. Postal workers would pick up food donations as they deliverd mail on their routes. The mail trucks would then return to the post office and volunteers would unload the food donations from the mail trucks into rolling bins to be transported to the Feeding The Valley Food Bank. An estimated 50,000 pounds of food was collected. The Feeding The Valley Food Bank supplies food and basic necessities to approximately 60,000 area residents in need.

Women from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints purchased supplies for and assembled hygiene kits to send to Haiti, which was recently devastated by an earthquake. All total, 26 comprehensive hygiene kits were assembled to be sent to Haiti.

Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Columbus, Georgia collected food and monetary donations in their neighborhoods for a Family Home Evening activity on Monday, April 19th. Then on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, 11 sisters from the church volunteered at the Feeding The Valley Food Bank. The following Saturday, 50 members combined with about 15 volunteers from the United Way to help sort food donations and prepare grocery kits to distribute to needy individuals in the community. All total, about 600 pounds of food and several hundred dollars were collected in members neighborhoods, followed by 190 hours of service rendered at the food bank. The local television news station covered the event on its 6:00 pm and 10:00 pm news broadcasts.
