Volunteers came in shifts with a number of them staying all day. We had great organizational support in all areas with good flow and developing stronger community awareness and help.
The Blood donations of 40 was double the expectations of LifeSouth had placed on a first time event and desired very heavily that we consider this every quarter!
Riverdale Fire Department to receive 160 stuff animals exceeded their expectations.
A Better Way Ministry were grateful to get donations…they were supporting Community Welcome House with transportations of donations but found some donations for their own organizations too. Plus the funds raised by the Young Women for the Community Welcome House of $760.
The Lion Lighthouse unable to attend will receive their donations sent to them.
The quilts from the Relief Society will go to the hospital and woman’s shelter once completed.
The military cards made by primary age children to be given to USO for distribution.
The event went very slow with great lapse times of community support but despite this we exceeded our own goals in all areas except food donations. However, the organization Real Life who was to receive food donations was given prior to this event $1000 food donation from the Bishops Storehouse and a number of months of support in clothing donations from the church in service projects. They left happy and desiring we continue to help them as we have in the past

Volunteer names were organized on a list and given a specific assignment based on input and needs provided by The Race for Riley organizers (Patsy and Waynette). Although specific assignments were given to those who volunteered, all members were encouraged to come and participate in the event in any way possible.
The rainy weather did present us with a significant difficulty. The race was prepared to move forward despite the weather, however, many of the supporting activities were planned outside. Thus, some planned children’s activities and support facilities were unable to operate. Our ward volunteers still showed up at 7:00am ready to help. Patsy and Waynette did a wonderful job of adapting to the circumstances and the event was very successful despite the weather.
We organized and did our best under the circumstances. The following is a list of activities our volunteers helped with:
• An indoor children’s play station was staffed with a rotation of volunteers for supervision
• A water station was setup and staffed for the race
• Volunteers participated in a silent auction and live auction
• Clean up after the race
o Children’s play station
o The food vendors
o Other miscellaneous clean up jobs
Several ward members who ran in the race were awarded medals for their times.
