The Mount Vernon branch collected food for the Mount Vernon Food Pantry. We collected food for an hour and 45 minutes broken up into 7 teams of 3-5 in neighborhoods close to the Mount Vernon branch. Many of the houses we visited were very kind and willing to donate food. Every home that our family visited gave us food. The kids had a lot of fun collecting the canned food and explaining to each house our service project for the Food Pantry. Branch members also brought food to give to the Food Pantry. We collected about 4-5 shopping carts full of food. The Food Pantry could not believe we collected so much food in such a short time and with out any publicity. We were blessed to be able to finish this project. We told the teams that we would collect food until 12:00pm and it started raining at 11:55am, and so we were able to deliver the food to the Mount Vernon Food Pantry that afternoon.
