Blood Drive with the America Red Cross

Stake: Evansville, Indiana

Community Partners: American Red Cross
Organization Served: American Red Cross
Influencers: Stacey Linder, Donor Recruitment Representative, American Red Cross
Total people involved: 87
Total volunteer hours: 179.5

In partnership with the American Red Cross, the Newburgh Ward was able to make 37 whole blood donations.  Each blood donation can help save the lives of up to three people.  The American Red Cross workers stated that our blood drive was very successful and ran very smoothly.  It was exciting to see so many members willing to give their time to donate or just to volunteer their services to assist the Red Cross.  Nondonating volunteers were able to help by doing the checking in process and also help the donors in the recovery area with snacks and drinks.  Bishop David Forbes said, “It was wonderful to see so many Ward members participate in this blood drive for the American Red Cross.  Those who could not donate blood were able to write letters or draw pictures for missionaries serving from our Ward.  Everyone who participated was greatly blessed for their time and efforts!” We also had an opportunity for the children and young teenagers to give of their time by having an area designated to write letters to the missionaries and military personnel overseas.
