On May 1, 2010, members of Purvis and Oak Grove Wards of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints participated in a county wide cemetery clean-up project. The county Board of Supervisors and local city departments helped identify 11 forgotten cemeteries. Members of the church cleared debris & underbrush, performed general landscaping, filled sunken plots, cleaned and straightened head stones. Many of the cemeteries were over a hundred years old, located in remote places, and had been neglected for years. In some cases you couldn’t even tell that it was a cemetery until the vines and brush were cleared.
