Activity/responsibility:

Due to the Yazoo City Disaster we will be sending help to cut and clear trees.

Tools or skills required:

Gloves and solid shoes for carrying logs and branches
Chain Saws for cutting felled trees
Bring food, drinks and water
Sunscreen
Wheelbarrows and work wagons for large logs

Ages:

Ages 16+, 12-15 if accompanied by an adult, please do not bring young children on this activity

Finding our Ancestors - Genealogy Sites

Meet at 7:30 AM, Saturday, May 1, 2010 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Clinton - Here we will gather for a kickoff breakfast and verify the service crews are all well represented.

Activity/responsibility:

Tombstone Preservation Project - Digital photographs of tombstones and grave-markers will be taken, while recording the exact location and writing contained on each one. The data will then be transported to the church Family History center where other volunteers will compile and upload it to www.findagrave.com for free access by genealogists and family historians world-wide. 

Tools or skills required:

High quality fully charged Digital cameras with at least (2) empty SD cards. (Label cards with your name and phone#) Clipboards, pencils, 1-2 Weed-eaters, brooms, cleaning cloths, and clean paintbrushes for dusting the graves.

Ages:

While appropriate for all ages, children and youth might not find this rewarding, it takes maturity to appreciate this service.

Mulching Kid’s Town Park

Kid’s Town Park needs new mulch, water-proofing equipment, and doing general cleanup.

Tools or skills required:

Gloves, scoop shovels, wheel barrows, tarps, yard rakes, and paintbrushes and/or pump sprayers for applying water proofing chemicals to the equipment.

Ages:

All ages, this should be great for even the smallest of children.

Additional Notes:

Please park in the lot on the hill next to the tennis courts, not in the small lot in front of the playground.

Gloves, scoop and digging shovels, wheel barrows, tarps, and yard rakes.

Ages:

Ages 12+ are preferred, younger children will need close attendance and can help with general cleanup.

Additional Notes:

*The wheelchair ramp building project has been postponed due to the needs in Yazoo City.  Plans will be made to build ramps in the neighborhood in the coming weeks. If you would like to participate, please place your name on the list available at registration or email kirby.orme@byu.net.
