Clothing Drive and Clothes Pantry Organization: Several hundred pounds of clothing were gathered and sorted for a local clothing pantry which offers free clothing to the homeless.
Repairs and Garden Preparation at Cornerstone Place: Two garden boxes were repaired, leveled out, and prepared for planting. In addition, a rotting deck at the side of the building was demolished and rebuilt. Cornerstone is a residence for young women ages 16 to 21 who have long-term problems, are too old for adoption, or whose family situation is such that remaining or returning home is either impossible or would be counterproductive.
Painting and Grounds Clean-up for Trinity Place: Volunteers painted two main interior rooms and exterior porch steps and sign. In addition, a paver walkway was leveled out, flower beds were cleaned out, shrubs were pruned and trimmed, and flowers planted. Trinity Place provides a safe place for runaway and homeless shelter for children ages 7 to 17. The Shelter provides a place to find answers to the problems from which they are running and where the parent-child relationship can begin to heal.
Supplies Collection Drive: Collection booths were set up at four locations to gather supplies for Children First of Buncombe County. Several large boxes full of supplies and other donations were collected. Children First is a nonprofit organization that assists with economically disadvantaged children and their families.
