Hollywood is a thriving community located 15 miles south of Charleston, South Carolina on Highway 162 and encompasses 33 square miles with a population of approximately 5,000 residents. The median income level is $30,297 which is $11,697 below the national income average. The residents of Hollywood are rooted in a great heritage of pride and dignity.
The city was fortunate to purchase “Wide Awake Plantation”, a seven acre plot of land off Highway 162. The town of Hollywood purchased the plantation because the city had no public access to the Stono River, a coastal waterway running through the state of South Carolina.
The plantation is immediately adjacent to the river. Because of the Charleston 4th Branch’s continued efforts, the plantation will be open to, not only the Hollywood town residents, but also Tri-county area residents. “Wide Awake Plantation” will provide a peaceful and serene place for the public to gather for: Family Picnics, Family Reunions, Weddings, Community Events, etc.

Coastal Center Cleanup
Name of Organization:
COASTAL CENTER—Dept. of Disabilities & Special Needs Residential Healthcare
Location and Time:
9995 Miles Jamison Road, Summerville, SC
Meet at 8:00 am atthe Coastal Center
Activity/responsibility:
• On April 10th, we need 4 or 5 men with power washers to help prep the gazebo for painting and wash the walkways & stone
benches.
• On April 17th we will meet at the Coastal Center Memorial Garden at 8am (babysitting will be available at the church building
for drop off at 7:45am).
• We will be sprucing up their Memorial Garden. The entire facility is over 45 acres and has only 2 landscape maintenance
workers to cover the entire area. They do not have the resources to do much more than cut the grass so parts of the
Memorial Garden have been understandably neglected.
• The Memorial Garden is a place where family members can come and visit with residents or sit quietly to remember those
who have passed.
• We will be cleaning up walkways, a gazebo and several stone and wood benches, cleaning out planter beds and replacing pine
straw so that the garden looks clean and kept for a fundraiser they will be having a little over a week after we’ve cleaned.
Tools or skills required:
• Work gloves
• rakes, shovels, spades & outdoor brooms
• painting utensils,
• power-washers
• man-power to do the work
