A great day of service was had by the combined efforts of the Okatie Branch and Ridgeland Ward. Even though it rained all day and we were drenched our spirits were not dampened. Most everyone worked in the Butterfly area of the Blue Heron Nature Trail pulling weeds, cutting and trimming underbrush, raking and removing old mulch. The Cub Scouts cleaned the bird feeders along the trail and will resupply the seed this week. Another group of adults headed to a nonmember’s home, who was recently widowed, where they raked and cleaned her yard. She was so appreciative. The Primary and their leaders headed to our local Nursing Home where they spread good cheer throughout by singing and visiting with the patients. They also placed several new bird feeders and refilled existing feeders so the patients could enjoy watching the birds. The Primary will also make a delivery next week to our local Senior Citizens Center with all the food they have so diligently collected. This center has an open pantry for our local senior citizens to get the necessary items they need. They were so appreciative of the Primary donating to their organization.
