Coastal Center Cleanup

Name of Organization:

COASTAL CENTER—Dept. of Disabilities & Special Needs Residential Healthcare

Location and Time:

9995 Miles Jamison Road, Summerville, SC
Meet at 8:00 am atthe Coastal Center

Activity/responsibility:

• On April 10th, we need 4 or 5 men with power washers to help prep the gazebo for painting and wash the walkways & stone
benches.
• On April 17th we will meet at the Coastal Center Memorial Garden at 8am (babysitting will be available at the church building
for drop off at 7:45am).
• We will be sprucing up their Memorial Garden. The entire facility is over 45 acres and has only 2 landscape maintenance
workers to cover the entire area. They do not have the resources to do much more than cut the grass so parts of the
Memorial Garden have been understandably neglected.
• The Memorial Garden is a place where family members can come and visit with residents or sit quietly to remember those
who have passed.
• We will be cleaning up walkways, a gazebo and several stone and wood benches, cleaning out planter beds and replacing pine
straw so that the garden looks clean and kept for a fundraiser they will be having a little over a week after we’ve cleaned.

At Relay, teams of people camp out at a local high school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Because cancer never sleeps, Relays are overnight events up to 24 hours in length.
