Tennessee Governor Declares Day of Service Day

A Resolution to designate April 24, 2010 as “Helping Hands and Linking Arms Day” in Tennessee.

Whereas, volunteer action is a powerful force for solving problems both large and small. The banding together, in the spirit of giving, of a few dedicated individuals can transform lives and entire communities; and

Whereas, the State of Tennessee esteems service to be an integral part of exceptional community livnig and highly values the link arms of community organizations in service; and

Whereas, Tennesseans recognize that unselfish service provides benefits to both the giver and the receiver; and

Whereas, unselfish service unites citizens while assuaging the distress of community member and brings hope to all; now, therefore,

Be It Resolved BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE CONCURRING, that we hereby designate April 24, 2010, as “Helping Hands and Linking Arms Day” in Tennessee and encourage our citizens and community organizations, agencies, businesses, and churches to share in the helping hands’ efforts.

Proclamation

Hamilton County, Tennessee

WHEREAS: volunteer action is a powerful source for solving problems both large and small, and the banding together in the spirit of giving of a few dedicated individuals can transform lives and entire communities; and,

WHEREAS:  Hamilton County esteems community service to be an integral part of our exceptional quality of life and appreciates the linking arms of community organizations in service; and,

WHEREAS: citizens of Hamilton County recognize that unselfish service provide benefits to both the giver and receiver; and,

WHEREAS: unselfish service unites citizens and organizations while easing the burdens carried by many community members and brings hope to all.

NOW, THEREFORE, I Claude Ramsey, Mayor of Hamilton County, Tennessee, do hereby proclaim April 24, 2010, as

“East Chattanooga Day of Service”

in Hamilton County and encourage our citizens and community organizations, agencies, businesses, schools, and churches to share in the volunteer efforts.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of Hamilton County to be affixed this the 24th day of April, 2010.
