We did litter pick up on various streets (33 bags), cleaned the ditch line behind Belks Plaza, and worked on Old Cooke Church Building to help turn it into a community building.
At the Old Cooke Church we removed the old steeple, painted the inside, framed in bathrooms to support handicap access, cleaned out the basement (8,660 lbs of junk removed), and worked on electrical services in the building.
We definitely had fun and some lost blood, sweat and tears. I think we may have had a few loose their breakfast as I know one group came across some well seasoned and
aged road kill. I thank God for answering our prayers and keeping the rain off us during those morning hours when we worked outside and for keeping all safe. I hope it will
inspire many to offer many days service throughout the year. I hope that many made new friends and enjoyed each others fellowship.

Church and several other areas that had become overgrown.  The Friendship Haven Assisted Living project included painting the bathrooms, laundry and living areas, new shelves in the pantry, a new kitchen floor and sewing of new curtains and chair pads for the center. Over 44 different painting projects including churches, daycares, Orchard Knob Middle School and individual homes were scheduled.  The inside painting was completed and the outside painting is still underway.  Over 41 pints of blood were donated, 800 hygiene kits completed, 78 fleece quilts made, 150 cards for the elderly, 50 sock puppets, 46 chair cushions, 18 sets of curtains, 19 lap quilts and 8 quilt blocks for the City of Chattanooga quilt project were made, as well as blankets for Project Snuggles and Project Linus. Murals were painted on walls and buildings throughout the area and it was a miracle the rain held off as church, neighborhood and community members came together and donated over 7000 hours to the East Chattanooga Day of Service..
