Join us as we link arms with the community. There are many tasks and projects to help with. As we provide service together our city becomes better and stronger because we link arms and serve one another. To see how you can make a difference look through the areas below to find a project that you can help with. The best thing is you choose how you want to volunteer. If you can put in a full day’s work GREAT, but if its easier for you to work half a day that’s fine too. Just specify (in the Event Name:) whether you want to work the first half of the day or the second half.
The day will commence as follows:
8:00am - 8:30am: Sign ups, Group Gathering, and Hospitality Table
8:30am - 9:00am: Kick-off with remarks from Mayor Jane Myron and others, Finish Group Gathering
9:00am - 12:00pm: Leave for work sites, Work
12:00pm - 1:00pm: Lunch rotation, Crew Swap (if not working all day)
1:00pm - 4:30pm: Finish Work
4:30pm - 5:00pm: Team Leaders check in with Registration
This year The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Johnson City, Tennessee will be linking arms with the following:
- The Johnson City Parks and Rec.
- Coca Cola
Providing - PowerAde to keep the workers hydrated & volunteers
- Earth Fare (The Healthy Supermarket)
Providing - Hospitality Table
- The Home Depot
Providing - $2,000 in materials & 10 volunteers
- Local Officials such as (Mayor: Jane Myron; Public Works: Patrick Walding; Master Gardener: Sam Jones; JC Parks: R.L. Vance, Brad Jones, Robin DiMona, John Grindstaff, Jerry Curtis, Mary Ann Kinch, Kat Johnson)

Winged Deer Park

Sign ups start at 8:00am
Kick-off will be at 8:30am with Mayor Myron and Congressman Roe
Activity/responsibility:
Please join us to help maintain the most utilized park in Johnson City. Here is a list of some of the projects we will be tackling on April 24th:
1) Mulch the Disc Golf Course, including the 18 tee boxes and the base of the baskets
2) Construct steps at various areas in the park, using railroad ties and mulch
3) Trim growth along boardwalk Clearing of 2 coves at public access ramp and docks, using chain saws, bow saws, etc.
4) Trash Clean Up Crew – shoreline, boardwalk WDP side, along boardwalk, walking trails and handicap access on TWRA side of boardwalk. Lakefront grounds and public access docks.City to provide gloves, trash bags, and trucks
5) Pressure Wash - Boardwalk, 700 linear feet of wooden deck and rails.
6) Landscape the Parks & Rec administrative office
7) Earth Fare is a health food supermarket that will having hospitality table for breakfast
8) the Mayor will be provideing lunch (Jane’s Lunchbox)
